Press release: Carriage Crossing Animal Hospital Hits the Trails to Support Low-Income Pet owners and their Sick/Injured Pets[October ] Waterloo, ON – Staff, family and friends of the Carriage Crossing Animal Hospital in Waterloo will ride the trails at Conestogo River Horseback Adventures on October 25 to raise funds for low-income pet owners and their sick/injured pets.
Carriage Crossing Animal Hospital is running the event in honour of the Farley Foundation, a registered Ontario charity that assists low-income pet owners by subsidizing the non-elective veterinary medical care of the sick/injured pets that mean the world to them. Since 2002, the Farley Foundation has disbursed over $2.2 million to assist well over 5,500 people and pets in need.
“As animal health professionals, we understand how strong the relationship is between humans and animals,” says Dr. Mara Garriets veterinarian and owner of Carriage Crossing Animal Hospital. “It’s particularly strong for certain categories of pet owners who rely heavily on their pets for companionship, and mental and physical well-being.
“We support the Farley Foundation because it assists low-income pet owners by helping to remove the financial burden so that they can continue to enjoy the benefits of pet ownership for as long as humanely possible.”
Area residents are invited to sponsor the horseback riders, or get involved themselves in the various fundraisers which are slated to occur throughout the month of October:
Dog walk around RIM park rack – $20/10 laps
Arrange your own trek through Conestoga River Horseback Adventures
Take your own dog, horse (or cat) on the Health Valley Trail from the public access in St. Jacobs.
Nail trims for $5 donation to the Farley Foundation (call ahead for an appointment)
Purchase a plush Farley toy (Farley is the famous English sheep dog from Canadian artist and cartoonist Lynn Johnston’s internationally syndicated comic strip For Better or For Worse®.)
